Marie Aimee Umwali (aka Bijoux) started dancing traditional dance at the age of 4 years old. She is currently on of the leading members of Intayoberana Culture Troupe, one of the most well known professional dance troupes in Rwanda. Intayoberana has performed at many important events, including FESPAD and Kwita Izina Ingagi. They often perform at weddings as well as government events.

Apart from specialising in traditional Rwandan dances, Bijoux has extensively studied Burundian, Ugandan, Tanzanian dances as well as dances from Burkina Faso, Botswana and many other African cultures. In April 2019 she has started regular weekly classes as part of Hilde’s school program and she is planning to collaborate with Hilde for a series of performances in future.
